Half Term Writing Competition

Wingfield Half Term Writing Competition

We are all fantastic writers here at Wingfield and to celebrate this, we are holding a writing competition. Tying in with Radio 2’s 500 Words challenge, we are asking all children across the school to write a short story of no more than 500 words.

  • Your story can be about anything you like. It can be in any style or genre, handwritten or typed.
  • The most ambitious and creative stories from each class will be published in a school book of short stories.
  • A book voucher will be awarded to each winner.
  • Winning entries will also be automatically entered into the Radio 2 challenge. Don’t forget that anybody aged 5-13 can enter the Radio 2 challenge – you do not have to win the school competition. (Children under five cannot yet enter the Radio 2 challenge, but winners will be included in the school book.)
  • You may be inspired by books you have enjoyed, but please make sure that the story you submit is your own.
  • All entries must be received by Monday 22nd February – the first day back after half term.
  • If you would prefer to email your entry, please send them to: 500words@wingfield.greenwich.sch.uk.

Please visit the Radio 2 500 Words website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00rfvk1 for many examples of previous winners.

Enjoy your writing and good luck!
