Wingfield pupils raise money for vulnerable children in Nepal.

During our learning about Mighty Mountains, we found that there can be many challenges associated with living in remote mountainous areas. The Umbrella Foundation supports vulnerable children, helping them to live safely and receive an education. We wanted to help, so our idea for a sponsored hill walk was born.

Our pupils contacted children at a school in Nepal to find out how their lives are different and what we have in common. We also studied the geography of the country, comparing its features to the UK. We planned a route up Box Hill using our map reading skills, wrote persuasive letters requesting sponsorship money and even recorded our own motivational music using Garage Band.  Well done to everyone - what a fantastic effort!
